Product Description
Rather than waste quality wheat, the Ramsbury Estate dreamt up a way to use it… by making a rather special vodka. Nothing, but nothing goes to waste on the Ramsbury Estate. Barley is promptly harvested, shovelled and ferried off to its brewery to be malted and fermented into golden ale. The game roaming the grounds and vegetables sprouting in the kitchen gardens are rustled up into a feast at its country inn The Bell. It is all part of the 19,000 acre estate’s nifty frugal philosophy. Pure and simple. A very specific wheat is grown on the Ramsbury Estate and combined with water from the ancient aquifer below the land in a very traditional way. Achieving a sweet yet delicate aroma was key. Contrary to popular bias, vodka was never meant to be a “colourless, tasteless” spirit; which is why Ramsbury settled on Horatio wheat, known for its vanilla and caramel undertones once distilled. The process then involves a cutting-edge distillery, where experts chill, filter and check every single bottle by hand to create something unique. You can taste, smell and see the difference. It’s a matter of taste through true British craftsmanship.
Aromas of dried fruits, aniseed and dark chocolate accompanied by hints of apple pie and lemon tart. The palate is elegant with a medium-bodied texture and waves of flavour. Lightly luscious and creamy, aniseed and dark chocolate become more prominent as the taste progresses, with juicy citrus at the edges. Fresh aniseed leads the finish, underlined by dryness, with a hint of lemon and chocolate.
