Product Description
Littorai Wines is a small, family owned and operated winery producing world class vineyard designated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the true north coast of California: the coastal mountains of Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. Littorai Wines was founded in 1993 by Heidi and Ted Lemon. Ted began his career in Burgundy after earning an oenology degree at the Université de Dijon. He has worked for some top Burgundian estates, such as Roumier, Bruno Clair and Domaine Dujac. Ted’s skills earned him a position as winemaker and vineyard manager at Domaine Guy Roulot in Meursault, being the first American ever to do so in Burgundy! Heidi’s path to farming was inspired after living and working in Germany following college and her subsequent work at several wineries in California, including Robert Long Vineyards and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. The majority of the sites are now farmed biodynamically and all sites are farmed using only organic materials. Littorai does not use certification systems. We derive our unique sustainable farming techniques from the fertile cross currents of permaculture, agro-ecology and the agricultural philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the father of biodynamic farming.
Meyer Lemon, honey dew melon, pear blossom, with just a hint of grilled almonds and a fresh saline quality. The aromas suggest a rich wine but this is a very elegant bottling with a fine balance of vibrant acidity and richness leading to a very long finish.
