Dark, but not heavy – in fact incredibly limber – this typical aromatically direct but also very deft. A quite electric bouquet has the hessian tannin smell of Rioja, choc-carob, anise rings, glace fruits of forest and squeaky plums. It has the wonderful long-tube-effect: long and fine and open, elegant and uncluttered, with both lovely tannin maturity and great freshness.

A darker shade of red and a somehow reticent bouquet of forest floor, cold bonfire, antique shop, truffles, game, sandalwood, nutmeg and clove. The fruit is also a little darker and the palate more austere, but still showing vibrant and supple, with clean flavors and a great finish.

The Phinca Hapa Tinto is made from Tempranillo from the same plot used for the white and there is also some Graciano in the blend. The full clusters fermented in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for one year. There is great freshness and perfume, wild flowers and berries, mild spices and a fine palate. This has a different style, a little lighter and fruit forward.
