This excellent example is worth seeking out, offering lots of complexity. The bouquet features cherry and red berries intermixed with earth and leathery hints. Fruit is a little darker on the palate, such as plum and blueberry. It’s ripe — as one would expect from Southern Italy — without being over ripe. Still a great way to try a new grape. RECOMMENDED.

Aroma of cherries, plums and compote or jam thereof. The palate is very intense with some plum, red fruits, cocoa, pepper and warm spices. Very long on the finish; it leaves a taste of almonds, caramel and raisins that seem juicy and soft.
